Today, I learned the beauty of the business of freelance—Firstly, it’s one of the most challenging work to get started with, in my case, it took me 9 years to finally escape the corporate life as a designer and land my first client as a design contractor.
But today, I’m finally seeing the beauty of this business, coming off from 2 years of freelancing as a designer now—here are my learning takeaways so far…

Before I dive into the takeaways, I want to highlight an important lesson: I’ve learned to slow down on my spending. I realized that excessive spending on wants is a major factor in profit loss. It may sound simple, but as a freelancer, it’s essential to treat your freelance work like a real business. Nothing is handed to you—you have to earn it, just like any other business.
So, to my fellow freelancers and those starting out, I hope these takeaways can help!
It pays more with less expenses and transportation
This serves as your business… You’re an entrepreneur
The benefit of being a freelancer is that you get to work with multiple projects and clients, hence, more income
Working in corporate will most likely consume your whole day just working for that company—it's not wrong, but that's just the reality
You get to have more time in life outside of your work
You can finally try other sh*t that you’ve always wanted to do, it could or couldn’t make you money, but nevertheless, you’re still an entrepreneur!
You’ll learn about taxes, I SWEAR
Life with time is just the right life you need to have.
